Where Midcentury Inspiration Meets Modern Functionality

In the heart of Madrid, Architectural Digest’s new offices reflect a seamless blend of midcentury sophistication and contemporary innovation. Designed by Carlos Tomás, founder of Estudio Reciente, the space pays homage to the 1950s while embracing the flexibility and warmth demanded by today’s creative work environments.

Open-plan and ever adaptable, the offices can be transformed by curtains and movable partitions to suit daily rhythms, from focused individual work to lively collaboration. The concept centers on two pillars: versatile furniture and comfortable, flexible workspaces that enhance productivity and well-being.

Among the standout pieces defining this elegant environment are Muuto’s Ambit Rail Lamp and Outline Sofa. The Ambit Rail Lamp illuminates meeting spaces with a precise, modern sensibility, its linear form echoing the architectural structure of the office, while the Outline Sofa anchors the lounge area with understated luxury, offering a place for reflection, conversation, or creative pause.

Custom furnishings in rich laminates and blue tones add depth and continuity throughout, with thoughtful material contrasts, granite blacks, soft textiles, and pale woods, evoking calm sophistication. The design aesthetic, enhanced by collaborators like Muuto, Vitra, IKEA, and Kvadrat, transforms the concept of a traditional office into an inspiring hub where design history and modern functionality converge.

This renovation redefines the modern workspace, a symbol of creativity, connection, and quiet elegance, where every detail reflects the enduring dialogue between past and future.
