The renovation of the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place was a fast-paced, design-focused project that demanded creative problem-solving and seamless collaboration from beginning to end. In the absence of a dedicated lighting designer, EL Design worked directly with both the design and construction teams to realize the project’s vision—delivering thoughtful lighting solutions, detailed renderings, and mock-ups for approval.
We remained actively engaged through regular on-site meetings to maintain alignment with the design intent and ensure accuracy at every stage. When a key area was found to have a reversed linear layout, our team acted quickly—partnering with the electrical contractor over the weekend to adjust and install the fixtures without delaying the schedule.
A standout feature of this project was the strong female representation across all disciplines, including design, construction, and lighting. The ownership team noted this as a first and credited the collaborative dynamic with contributing to both the smooth process and the striking final outcome.
The project was delivered on time, under budget, and with lighting that enhances the revitalized interiors—merging technical expertise with design integrity.
