In the lively Nørrebro district of Copenhagen, BRUS has become more than a brewpub — it is an experience. Housed in a former iron foundry, this venue combines a working brewery, bar, bottle shop, and restaurant, all under one roof. Founded in 2015 by Tore Gynther and a partner. BRUS reflects the city’s spirit: bold, creative, and deeply connected to its architectural heritage.
To shape the venue’s design, the team sought furnishings and lighting that balanced Scandinavian minimalism with international character. Enter Muuto, whose furniture and lighting collections were chosen not only for their sculptural strength but also for their ability to withstand heavy use and enhance customer comfort.
Outdoors, the Linear Steel Series of chairs, tables, and benches anchors the beer garden. Finished in grey, dark green, and oak tones, the palette draws inspiration from Copenhagen’s architecture and the city’s iconic green park benches — a subtle nod to local history. The choice of steel over wood ensures durability through the Danish seasons, combining practicality with timeless warmth.
Inside, Muuto lighting creates the rhythm of the day. The Top Pendant provides an even, welcoming glow, perfect for casual afternoons. The Linear Pendant spotlights the kitchen bar, emphasizing the heart of the venue. Meanwhile, the Ease Portable Lamp brings intimacy to the tables, encouraging guests to linger. These layered lighting choices ensure that every corner of BRUS feels considered, whether it’s a bustling evening service or a quiet midweek visit.
