Marjorie Arnett

Marjorie Arnett is a visionary American painter and poet whose layered oil-and-graphite works evoke both the visceral immediacy of mark-making and the quiet depth of memory and place. Working from her studio in Maine, Arnett pours, pushes, and sands oil paint until surfaces emerge that shimmer with discreet geometry, bold strokes of color, and subtle whispers of texture. Over the course of more than a hundred exhibitions in the U.S. and Europe, she has taught internationally—including at the Academy of Art in Zagreb, Croatia—held residencies in Italy, France, and Portugal, and served as Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
