Semi-Flushmount Lights
A semi-flushmount light is a type of ceiling light fixture that is similar to a flushmount light but hangs down from the ceiling canopy by a small stem or rod, leaving a small gap between the fixture and the ceiling. Unlike flushmount lights, which sit directly against the ceiling surface, semi-flushmount lights are suspended a short distance below the ceiling, typically around 4 to 8 inches.
Semi-flushmount lights are commonly used in spaces with ceilings that are too low for traditional pendant lights but where a little extra depth is desired compared to flushmount fixtures. They come in a variety of styles, sizes, and designs, making them suitable for various interior design aesthetics and applications, such as hallways, bedrooms, kitchens, and living rooms.
Semi-flushmount lights are typically hung approximately 6 to 12 inches below the ceiling, depending on the specific design and the desired aesthetic. This allows for some clearance between the fixture and the ceiling while maintaining a low-profile appearance.
The type of bulb you should use for a semi-flushmount light depends on your lighting needs and preferences. Common options include incandescent, LED, CFL (compact fluorescent), and halogen bulbs. Be sure to check the fixture's specifications and any manufacturer recommendations for compatible bulb types and wattages.
