As seen in Luxe Interiors + Design, EL Design redefines the showroom experience with a Chicago warehouse transformed into a curated lighting destination.

A Showroom Redefining What’s Possible

Being featured in Luxe Interiors + Design is a milestone, and for EL Design, it marks a powerful moment in our ongoing story. In a recent issue of the nationally acclaimed magazine, Luxe spotlights our Chicago-area showroom as a true design destination: a once-abandoned two-story warehouse transformed into a groundbreaking lighting and furniture showroom inspired by the world’s most influential design capitals.

When Luxe Interiors + Design highlights a space, it’s not simply about beautiful products, it’s about vision, craftsmanship, and the people reshaping how we experience design. We’re honored to be recognized alongside the industry’s most inspiring interiors.

From Abandoned Warehouse to Luxe-Worthy Design Destination

As Luxe details, EL Design founder Kelly Gallagher saw possibility where others saw an abandoned industrial building. Located just outside Chicago, the 100-year-old warehouse offered character, scale, and freedom, an unexpected yet perfect canvas for reimagining what a lighting and furniture showroom could be.

“I launched this company with a vision to redefine what a lighting and furniture showroom could feel like, equal parts gallery, design studio, and gathering place,” Gallagher shares in the article. Removed from city congestion yet rich with architectural soul, the space allowed EL Design to evolve into something deeply experiential and intentionally residential.

Inspired by New York and Milan

Drawing inspiration from the immersive showrooms of New York and Milan, the EL Design showroom reflects a global design sensibility rarely found in the Midwest. As Luxe notes, more than 100 international brands—including GUBI, Flos, DCWéditions, Artemide, and Hammerton Studio—are presented within layered, thoughtfully styled environments that feel warm, livable, and refined.

Rather than a traditional retail floor, the showroom unfolds as a series of curated vignettes where lighting, furniture, rugs, ceramics, and accessories coexist in real-world settings. Select vintage pieces and locally sourced ceramics add depth and authenticity, reinforcing the space’s gallery-like quality.

Lighting at the Heart of the Experience

Lighting plays a starring role throughout the showroom, something Luxe Interiors + Design highlights as central to the EL Design philosophy. Each space is designed to demonstrate how thoughtful lighting transforms mood, function, and architecture, offering designers and homeowners alike a hands-on, immersive experience.

Clients are encouraged to see, touch, and experience lighting in context, an approach that elevates EL Design beyond a showroom and into a trusted design resource.

A Space Built for Collaboration

As Luxe beautifully captures, EL Design is also a place for connection. Designers and clients gather to spread out blueprints, explore materials, and collaborate with EL Design’s expert lighting specialists. Private meeting areas and communal tables foster creativity, conversation, and discovery.

“It’s warm, open, and inviting,” Gallagher explains in the feature, an ethos felt the moment you step inside.

A Proud Moment for EL Design

Being featured in Luxe Interiors + Design affirms what EL Design set out to achieve: a showroom that pushes boundaries, celebrates craftsmanship, and brings people together through design. From an abandoned warehouse to the pages of one of the industry’s most respected publications, this recognition is a testament to the power of vision, collaboration, and thoughtful lighting.

We’re incredibly proud to share this moment and invite you to experience the showroom that Luxe calls a true design destination.
