Surface-Mount Linear Lighting
Clean, continuous illumination without cutting a full fixture profile into the mounting surface.
Surface-mounted linear lighting provides the clarity and continuity of architectural linear light without requiring the fixture to be recessed. The profile attaches directly to a ceiling, wall or piece of millwork, making it useful for renovations, concrete ceilings and other conditions where cutting into the architecture is difficult or undesirable.
What does surface-mounted mean?
A surface-mounted linear fixture sits on the face of the mounting plane. Depending on the profile, it may appear as an extremely slim luminous line or as a deliberate architectural element with a visible housing. It can direct light downward, outward, across a surface or indirectly toward a ceiling.
Surface mounting does not automatically mean exposed wiring. Feed locations and remote power supplies can often be planned so the completed installation remains visually clean.
When it is the right solution
Surface-mounted linear lighting is a practical choice beneath concrete slabs, on masonry walls, inside cabinets and in existing spaces where recessed installation would require extensive demolition. It can also be selected intentionally: a black or metallic profile may reinforce the lines of the architecture rather than disappear into it.
Common applications include corridors, closets, kitchens, workspaces, shelving, coves and wall-mounted indirect lighting. Wet-location versions can extend the same vocabulary into bathrooms and protected or exposed exterior conditions when properly rated.
Direct, indirect and asymmetric light
A downward-facing diffuser creates direct illumination for a work surface or room. An upward-facing fixture can brighten the ceiling and create a softer ambient effect. Angled or asymmetric optics can throw light across a wall, ceiling or display surface. Choosing among these effects is more important than choosing a housing based on appearance alone.
Glare should also be considered. A fixture mounted near eye level needs different shielding and output than one placed high on a ceiling.
Luminii options

Output, lens, finish, mounting clips, feed direction and control type should be selected as a coordinated package. For long visible runs, confirm how sections join and how the lens will appear at transitions.
Planning tip
Draw the fixture in elevation—not only in the reflected ceiling plan. Its depth, sightline and proximity to adjacent materials determine whether the profile feels refined or visually distracting.
