Mila, Alfonso, 1991
This auxiliary table was designed as part of the project to remodel the office of Barcelona Mayor Pasqual Maragall, who oversaw the city's successful bid for the 1992 Olympics. Like the Diana lamp, the table was named after his wife. Knowing the office would be frequented by a large body of the international community, Correa and the Mila brothers opted for a simple and elegant interior design. In the same spirit as the lamp series, the table exudes a timeless quality. The perfect balance between tradition and modernity, where everything boils down to proportion, with two different table top heights and diameters. Since the 60s, architect duo Federico Correa and Alfonso Mila have been among the most successful in Spanish design and architecture. Their work is inspired by the architectural heritage of the Modern Movement's great masters. For this project they enlisted the help of Miguel Mila; one of the greatest exponents of industrial design in Spain, recipient of the Premio Nacional de Diseño 1987, Compasso d'Oro 2008, and the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts 2016 among many other distinctions.
