GamFratesi designed the Epic Dining Table for GUBI as a sculptural piece of furniture inspired by Greek columns and Roman architecture and named after the epic poems of ancient times. Now available in lacquered steel, with a hand-finished surface that gives a vivid, living quality to the monolithic form, the Epic Table in steel is a celebration of the classical in an altogether modern expression.Inspired by historical examples of travertine constructions such as the Colosseum and Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome, and the 1970s revival of the material in Southern Europe, the table combines two simple geometric shapes, the circle and the hexagon, with references to the classical Greek column.Steel options in Midnight Black, Misty Gray or Earthy Red complement the tonal options of the Epic travertine range, allowing the two materials to be effortlessly combined.The varying heights and diameters within the Epic Table Series mean a single monochromatic table can stand alone or be combined in dynamic clusters of varying height, color and material.
