Mayuhana Floor Lamp, yugami

With a design vaguely reminiscent of a caterpillar's cocoon, the Mayuhana Yugami Floor Lamp by Yamagiwa brings a level of warmness to contemporary interior living areas.
The floor lamp is constructed from spindles of Fiberglass and Aluminum, forming a shade with a silk-like facade. Fixture uses incandescent bulbs (not included) to play with the spindles to cast a soft, ambient light to the immediate area, making it best suited for application in living rooms, bedrooms, and office areas. Asymetrical floor or table lamp comprised of two nested spun fiberglass shades and steel frame. Production Process: The shade is made from by spinning the frame while a fiberglass stream is laid continuously.

Care Instructions: Light should not be placed in high humidity or bathroom environment. To prevent fire risk set up on a level area to prevent falling over and do not place close to combustible or volatile material.

His designs revolve around the equilibrium between the private life and the metropolitan, "public" life of an individual. In doing so, he seeks to find new spatial conditions that manifest the philosophy of borderless beings. In 2013, Ito was awarded the Pritzker Prize.
